Create a Summary Task: Step by Step

Follow these easy steps to create a new summary task in only two clicks of your mouse:

1. Select all of the tasks that you want to turn into subtasks under the new summary task.
2. In the “Insert” section of the Task ribbon, click the “Insert Summary Task” button.

Microsoft Project will automatically generate a new summary task, and the selected tasks will be indented under this new summary task. All that’s left for you to do is to provide a name for the summary task.

And that’s it! In just two clicks, you’ve successfully created a summary task in Microsoft Project. Creating a summary task doesn’t have to be a complicated process. With this simple two-click method, you can efficiently organize your tasks into a structured summary, making project management in Microsoft Project a breeze.
